Meup Meup won its first Championship Trophy in ten years and Ngadyung won the Spirit Cup for the fourth year in succession at yesterday鈥檚 Athletics Carnival at the Australian Institute of Sport.
The two Houses continued their momentum from February鈥檚 Swimming Carnival, where Ngadyung (Championship) and Meup Meup (Spirit Cup) took home the trophies.
While Meup Meup led the Championship standings throughout the day, the Spirit Cup was closely contested by all four Houses, with Gurabang and Mindygari pushing Ngadyung to the very end.
This year, the House themes were based around colour, which helped to boost the spirit on the day. Gurabang had the theme of 鈥楪roovy Green鈥, Meup Meup had the 鈥楻ed Rage鈥 theme, Mindygari鈥檚 theme was 鈥楳ellow Yellow鈥, and Ngadyung students dressed as 鈥楤lue Blitz鈥.
The enthusiasm and participation that all students brought to the day made it one of the most successful carnivals in the College鈥檚 history. Congratulations and thank you to the members of the Student Representative Council, who were responsible for leading and organising their Houses on the day.
The event was typical of a MacKillop sports carnival, with students participating in competitive track and field events and novelty events like the tug o' war, boot throw, and fun run. Students who did not participate in the events were active in the stands, cheering on their peers.
Congratulations to all students for their high level of participation, teamwork, spirit, and displays of athleticism, and thank you to the staff, led by Mr Nathan Wood, who played a huge role in making the day such a great success.
