Year 12 sets ambitious target for Relay

Year 12 sets $70,000 target

Year 12 students have commenced their fundraising efforts for Cancer Council鈥檚 Relay for Life having set an ambitious goal of $70,000.

After just a few weeks of fundraising, students have already raised well over $20,000, but they still have more work to do if they hope to beat the College record of $66,540, which was set by the Class of 2022.

MacKillop will participate in the Relay Your Way version of the Relay with a 12-hour event here at the College on Saturday 1 April.

On 8 March, several Year 12 students met with members of Cancer Council ACT to discuss their plans for the upcoming Relay.

When asked why supporting the Relay was important to the students of Year 12, Faith and Community Captain Emma Jobling said the fight against cancer was close to many students鈥 hearts.

鈥淲e know a lot of people, personally and through the school, who have been affected by cancer,鈥 Emma said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 really important to us to do our part and help our community out. It鈥檚 an opportunity, as Year 12 students, to get together and do one last big thing together.鈥
